In Ukraine, with the start of a full-scale war, the number of cases of domestic violence has officially decreased. The reason for this is that women are forced to solve urgent domestic problems and do not complain to the police, they live their problems “behind closed doors”. However, after a year and a half of the full-scale invasion, the statistics almost returned to the “pre-war” period.

In the Kirovohrad region in the first half of 2023, the prevention police recorded 702 calls where people complained about domestic violence. The police recorded 361 injured people. Human rights organizations say that among the victims, there are also women from the families of displaced persons and military personnel. This category is particularly vulnerable. After all, IDPs have difficulties with housing and work. In military families, men often need psychological rehabilitation.

Since last year, a mobile group of social and psychological assistance has been operating in Kropyvnytskyi. They reply to emergency calls. In the future, victims of violence are offered comprehensive support — social, legal assistance, housing search. The main thing, the organization says, is not to be afraid to apply.
