Bohdana Shevchenko’s husband Oleksii has been serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine for 12 years. He is in the 55th separate artillery brigade, “Zaporizka Sich”. He felt the fullness of military obligations and all responsibility for the lives of peaceful people, for Ukraine, back in 2014, when Russia attacked our country – annexed Ukrainian Crimea and started a war in Donbas. Oleksii’s unit fought in Donbas – the defenders took part in the liberation of our cities.

Now he is already an experienced commander of the unit, together with his brothers, he holds the defense in the Donetsk direction. The military man has many state awards and honors for years of service, one of the most important is the Order “For Courage” III degree. He received it in April 2022 for holding back the enemy in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia directions in the first days of a full-scale invasion.

Bohdana Shevchenko admitted that it is impossible to get used to being the wife of a military man. She spoke in an interview about life in standby mode.
