In Lutsk, brand new, beautiful red and white trolleybuses with a low floor and air conditioners can be seen more and more often on the streets of the city. Is this public transport enough for Lutsk?

These 29 new trolleybuses were delivered to Lutsk from 2020 to 2022 as part of the project “Upgrading the electric transport infrastructure of the city of Lutsk, Volyn region.” These trolleybuses were produced at the “Bohdan Motors” car assembly plant, which is also located in Lutsk. The project was implemented jointly with the European Investment Bank.

Anatolii Myroniuk, head of municipal enterprise “Lutsk Enterprise of Electric Transport”, said that trolleybuses are the main form of public transport in Lutsk.

The enterprise services 9 trolleybus routes, the length of the trolleybus network is 109 km. All routes are laid through densely populated microdistricts of the city, where there is a large passenger flow. Therefore, our type of electric transport is the main type that provides public transportation in accordance with the needs of the population.

Lutsk enterprise has 77 trolleybuses. At least 40 trolleybuses travel on the route every day. Not all trolleybuses go on runway every day, because each trolleybus has a certain system of technical inspections. Every day there is an inspection before departure, and there are inspections after a certain time after operation. That is, after a certain interval or mileage, the trolleybus must undergo a technical inspection.

 In a comment, Lutsk Mayor Ihor Polishchuk noted that there would be enough trolleybuses for the city of Lutsk after receiving 30 new low-floor trolleybuses, six of which are autonomous as part of the project “Upgrading the Lutsk City Trolleybus Park”.

According to this project, deliveries of these 30 new trolleybuses are scheduled for 2024 and 2025. Trolleybuses are planned to be purchased with a low floor (no higher than 35 cm from the ground). It is important that the trolleybuses have a low floor in the trolleybuses, because then it will be easier for people with limited physical abilities and parents with children in strollers to get there.
