On August 15, 2023, Russian missiles hit the bearing factory belonging to the Swedish company SKF. It happened approximately at 5:20 in the morning in Lutsk. As a result of the missile attack, three people died and several wounded people were taken to the hospital.

People who died as a result of shelling were not in shelter. Although on the territory of the bearing factory, there is the largest shelter in Lutsk.

On the day of the shelling, Russian propaganda sites “dispersed” false information that the SKF factory in Lutsk is part of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex.

For example, on the website of the Russian propagandistic agency TASS, they wrote that the bearing factory is part of the military-industrial complex. In fact, the SKF factory in Lutsk produces roller and needle bearings, as well as wheel assemblies for trucks/commercial vehicles.

According to Reuters, SKF press secretary Karl Bjornstam said that SKF is the world’s largest producer of industrial bearings. The company has about 1,100 employees in Ukraine, most of whom work at the plant in Lutsk.

According to the website “Konkurent” with reference to the State Environmental Inspection in the Volyn region, the damage caused by Russian missiles to the SKF bearing plant was estimated at more than 160 million hryvnias

Russian propagandists spread lies because in fact the bearing factory is not a military facility.
