The army of terrorists occupied the village of Yahidne in Chernihiv Oblast on March 3, 2022. According to the testimony of the local population, the Russians fired at houses, broke into the homes of local residents, robbed, threatened and beat people. Moreover, they forced almost the entire village into the basement of the local school, where they kept them for almost three weeks.

“As a result of keeping the civilian population in inhumane conditions – from March 9 to 28, 2022, 10 civilians died,” the Office of the Prosecutor General said in a statement.

Since April 22, after the retreat of the Russians from Chernihiv Oblast, Ukrainian law enforcement officers have been collecting evidence of war crimes. Currently, investigators have identified 15 suspects of torturing residents of Yahidne. All of them have already been notified of the suspicions in absentia and face up to 12 years in prison.

According to the documents, military unit 55115 was based in Yahidne. This unit is located in the city of Kyzyl (Republic of Tuva). To specify, the Russian city of Kyzyl is more than 5 thousand kilometers from the Ukrainian village of Yahidne.
