The Kirovohrad region, which is in the center of Ukraine, was not occupied, so there are no trials here against the Russian military.

Instead, regional courts hear cases against local residents who are accused of treason or justifying Russia’s armed aggression. Most of them are people of retirement age, or people from Russia, who spread propaganda posts on the Russian social network Odnoklasniki, which is banned in Ukraine. Ukrainian legislation regards such violations as not serious, so mostly the accused are given a light punishment. However, some judges impose creative obligations on violators – to study sections of the Constitution or Ukrainian patriotic works.

There are cases of collaborationism among the court verdicts. However, we are talking about residents of the Luhansk and Mykolaiv regions, but because of the war, these cases were heard in the courts of the Kirovohrad region.

In total, since February 24, 75 people have been sentenced in the region, more than half of the sentences are conditional sentences, that is, people do not go to prison, they are given a chance for correction.
